On landscape photography
Sometimes I believe that all this traveling has marked me and formed me more than I have marked and formed the area I've traveled to. The mountains, the fields, and the birds have zero awareness of my existence. They will continue their aeternum journey without knowing that I was there and I walked among them.
Showcasing my landscape photography is a way of saying I was there, completely aware of my environment and it captivated me to the extend that I took the time to capture it with my camera and enhance it with my editing skills, thus transforming it to a piece of my world.
Photography is more than art. It is a form of being. I exist in these rectangular pieces I create. Apart from the fact that I once visited this place, I re-interpreted it. My landscape photography isn't part of this world, it is little snippets of the world through my eyes, the world I live in. So, when most of you walk on sidewalks or visit parks where colors are washed off by sunlight and the trees look boring, I visit my world at dusk, when the light is dim, and the contrast is low but you can see vivid golden hues and lush blues. My world doesn't have direct sunlight, there's never noon.
I understand that my art isn't for everyone. Some people prefer to see life showered with sunlight and warmth and this is the kind of art they surround themselves with. We are different animals, living in different realms. I don't expect these people to understand me, but I respect their preferences. I even maintain a lifestyle IG account where I post colorful phone or analog photography. These are my moments of tagging along on trends and going with the flow instead of being a lone ranger. Being different, but blending in has always been my strongest skill.
Be like water, my friend.
